ANSO-PAS Workshop on Biological Safety and Risk Management
Glimpse of ANSO-PAS workshop on “Biological safety and risk management” was successfully organized by Department of Biotechnology, Quaid-i-Azam University in collaboration of PBSA (Pakistan Biological Safety Association) and supported by Alliance of International Science Organization (ANSO) and Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS). The workshop participants were from nine different universities and research institutions. The workshop was divided into two sessions;
- Session I: Inaugural and Keynote Lectures (09:00-11:30 AM)
- Session II: Training & practicals (12:00-04:00 PM)
The session was started with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Muhammad Ali; the workshop focal person. Chief Guest of Inaugural Session was Prof. Dr. Saeed Khan (President of PBSA and Professor at Dow University of Health Sciences), while Prof Dr. Hazir Ullah (Director ORIC and Chairperson, School of Sociology) was Guest of Honor at the occasion. Other guests were Dr. Imran Khan Khattak (Director, Halal food and safety authority) and Dr. Ihsan Ul Haq (Chairman, Department of Pharmacy, QAU). Keynote Speakers and Trainers were Prof. Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari (Distinguished National Professor, Prof Emeritus at QAU), Dr. Ali Talha Khalil (Assistant Professor & Consultant Molecular Biologist at LRH-MTI, Peshawar), Dr. Javed Muhammad (General Secretary of
PBSA and Assistant professor department of Microbiology University of Haripur), Dr. Faouzia Tanveer Mirza (IFBA-certified professional in Bio risk management, and senior lecturer department of Biosciences Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University Islamabad).
The Chief Guest of the concluding ceremony was Prof. Dr. Shahid Hameed (Dean of Faculty of Natural Science, QAU) and the Guest of Honor was Prof. Dr. Syed Wiqar Ali Shah (Former Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, QAU). The honorable guest appreciated the event, distributed shields and certificates among organizers, trainees and resource persons.
